Travel Insurance claims

There are lots of reviews out there for different travel insurance companies but they tend to be reviews of the buying process which are obviously going to be good. Does anyone know anywhere to check which companies have the best reputation for paying out legitimate claims and which companies try their best to wriggle out?
I'm looking for travel insurance for over 70s with pre-existing medical conditions so any personal experience would be helpful.
Thanks

I've used Staysure in the past but I've recently come across a fair few negative comments about them from people who have made perfectly legitimate claims and who were, in fact, paid out after a lot of haggling and intervention by the ombudsman, so I'm hoping for some feedback from people who have put in legitimate claims which have been paid out without a lot of wrangling and people who have had claims dismissed or they've struggled to get the claim settled.
I'm aware that I need to tell them everything, which I do and maybe some people don't, but there seems to have been cases where the insurance company has still tried to get out of it. Don't want to get or appear paranoid but if I can sort the good from the bad I'll be happy
Thanks for all your help

Perfectly legitimate reasoning. You never know how good your insurance is until you need to make a claim. We have used Makesure for a couple of years in a similar age bracket and my DH has pre-existing conditions. The premium is reasonable but as you point out, I really don’t know how good the company is, as, thankfully, we’ve not needed to claim.
I’ll be interested in any responses myself.0 -
We claimed successfully from Columbus Direct a few years back, no wriggling was encountered.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0
