Wireless router recomendations

I have a lovely new laptop, and would now like to get a wireless router to go with it. Also, thought i would let my children have the old computer (they have one upstairs already) and at the moment they dont have internet access in their rooms, so need the internet connection to be with all 3 computers.

What would you recommend?

I could also do with some advice on parental security, dont want the children accessing anything they shouldnt be when im not around!!!

Cable or ADSL ?

For Cable I would get a Netgear WGR614

For ADSL I think teh equivalent is the Netgear DG834G

Presumably you would also need wireless adapters for the two machines upstairs?

Im on cable - yes, although the laptop has wireless capabilities, the computers dont, so would need something for them.

So, the netgear WGR614 would be the best, and i could get the adapters to go with that as well?

Just looked up the router - would i need just the router for the laptop, and 2 adapters for upstairs, and what is a pc card for? would i need those as well?

Any of these here would be suitable and some come with adaptors included in the package.

Sorry to butt in but on a similar topic I was at my son in law's house today and he told me that his two boys who both have computers in their bedrooms
cannot now get the internet. He says the router which sits at the side of the downstairs computer is, for some reason, not connecting as it should to the computers upstairs. It worked well at the beginning when they first set it all up. He said he might have to get someone in which surprised me as he is usually very knowledgeable about these things. The server is AOL so I suppose it is their router. They are on ADSL and all the computers are Dell (which I know doesn't mean anything).

Can anyone suggest what could be wrong?

I second the netgear router, ive got one and im happy with it, easy to setup and ive not had to do anything else to it as nothings gone wrong

Some excellent reviews here. The Buffalo, in particular, gets an outstanding review, but note the lack on an adsl modem.

We paid £30 for a router from Maplins. Its brand name is Peak and is for cable.We`ve had no trouble at all with it.
