Company passing the buck

Options
Hi there

I was hoping for some advice about my next steps. I took out a loan for a car in 2008 via a company called the Funding Corporation in Chester. I realised recently that there was indeed PPI attached to the loan.

Luckily I have all the documentation still and submitted a claim via the Resolver site early April. They've written to me today saying the following;

"Having reviewed our records I confirm that we are the wrong respondents in this case as we did not sell you the PPI our records indicate that the PPI was sold to you by Guaranteed Car Finance"

They then say that this is their final response. Looking at the documentation I have "Guaranteed Car Finance.com Ltd" is mentioned once in the contract.

I can find no public record of Guaranteed Car Finance and the Funding Corporation don't give me an address to contact. Where would you recommend I go from here? Baring in mind all the docs I have refer almost exclusively to the Funding Corp with the other company just mentioned once

Is the Funding Corporation pulling a fast one? If not and Guaranteed Car Finance is no longer trading do I have another avenue to persue my claim?

Thanks in advance

    It unlikely that any bucks are being passed or fast items being pulled.

    Who sold you your policy - where and when?

    Thanks for the prompt reply ZX, basically I took out a car loan February 2008, I believe I responded to an advertisement for finance. All the documentation I have (20 pages) refers to"the Funding Corporation" so I sent my claim to them. They've come back and said my agreement was with Guaranteed Car Finance not them......The email address that the documentation was sent from was as @gcf.com address

    I don't think GCF are trading anymore, however I do have documentation that says I was charged for PPI, any idea where I can go from here?

    If they're not trading, then you have no one to complain to.

    Thanks for the replies, really is appreciated. I can't find any presence of GCF online, so I imagine that they are out of business. However going through the agreement I have, all reference to the loan and PPI are from the Funding Corp, GCF aren't mentioned at all. Where I sign for the PPI for example it's "Signature for and on behalf of THE FUNDING CORPORATION" Reckon it's worth chasing?

    No - because mis selling is about who sold it to you, not who provided the finance.
