Merseyflow Toll
Hi,
Wondering if anyone can help.
My wife has been across the merseyflow bridge a large number of times. She recently changed bank cards back and updated the payment details on the merseyflow website.
She has been back and forward a number of times since (6), she then received 6 fines saying she never paid. She had clicked the auto payment on the system when she changed card and they had full access to her payment details and car and address etc so could have easily got in touch if there was a problem with the card. (never had problems with previous card)
After she got these 2 fines she went back on to the website and saw auto payment was unticked, she ticked this again, saved and left. Since then she went back over the bridge twice and again received another 2 fines.
She logged back in and the tick box for auto payment was again unticked.
She appealed the charges but it has been refused.
It's not like she was trying to avoid the charges, they have her car details, payment details, address etc. They could have easily taken payment or got in touch about the charges regardless of whether the auto payment tick-box was enabled.
The fact that she enabled it and when she logged back in - it was disabled... makes it a bit suspicious.
What are the grounds on this? Do we you think we should stick our ground and take it to the traffic tribunal or just bite the bullet and pay the 8 fines in total?
Thanks in advance
Kevin

Ask on the pepipoo site. They will give some suggestions on how to formulate a decent appeal.
In my (unqualified) opinion the fact your wife had auto-pay setup and also has it now points to a software issue that's not your fault.0 -
Check the card details are correct, if the system try's to take a payment and it fails it will un-tick the box.0
