Economy 7 tariff massive increases

Hi, looking for help and advice being new to this forum but respect MSE as a consumer champion. I volunteer at a small local museum which is a registered charity and we have night storage heaters as our main heating throughout the building. We chase the best rates we can but are hitting an enormous problem with the best economy 7 rates we can seem to find. Ignoring the other features, we currently have a rate of 8.82 kWh for night use and this will increase to - 15.85 for a 1 year fix or 12.56 for a 2 year fix. Using comparison sites, the best I can get for a 2 year is 10.9 + This means the best I can hope to get seems to be a 25% increase!!!! Is this in line with what others are seeing in the market at the moment or am I missing something?

Are you not on business rates?

If so good deals are usual 5+ year fixes.

    If not is that right?

We are on a business tariff but the 5 year lowest is still 11.8.

You can probably thank the Energy Price Cap for the increase in tariffs.

It's probably cost more people more money than those who've benefited but that's what happens when someone interferes with the market
Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers

Just a double check - what rate of VAT are you paying ?
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

I can add that AFAIAA yes prices have gone right up.

    That said...

Also comparison sites are not the way to get a business tarrif. They are generally variable and the best way to get the best offer is negociation.

It is so different from the domestic market that comparison sites do not work to get the best options.

    What does energylinxforbusiness.co.uk suggest?

Thanks for the suggestion. Same tariff as other sites but poor at the calculations compared to others. Reversed day and night rate, did not ask or take account of VAT reduction or CCL exemption so left me with useful tariff figures but pointless estimated costs.
