Utilita smart meter problems

Hi there, I'm trying to switch energy suppliers without having to go onto a direct debit (i struggle with money and paying Bill's due to my mental health) but i am currently on utilita. They fitted their smart meters into my property, which was fine for about a year, and then decided to change suppliers recently, only to be told that no one would be able to take us on as prepayment customers due to the incompatible meters. I have spoken to utilita themselves and they have said that their meters are compatible with other companies (which I checked only ovo will take on their smart meters). Is there anything I can do? Or am i locked into utilita?

How do OVO's and Utilita's rates compare ? If Utilita is still the better then stick with them .Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0

Switch to a supplier and have your meter exchanged 28 days later.
Your current meters would be put in credit mode, so they dont run out, failing that your new supplier will change your meters if the payment method switch fails.0
