This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Good morning all
Been awake since silly o'clock
Not looking forward to my day. At last I have an appointment to register Mums death, then to the funeral director, and finally a meeting with the Celebrant. Not sure how I will manage it.
Special thoughts to all those struggling especially Poppy, I often think of youIf you walk at night no-one will see you cry.0 -
Morning everyone
SO - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need one, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Cloudy and dreich here this morning, damp underfoot so we've had some rain during the night.
DH and DS1 now getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and eating my porridge whilst on here. DS2 is settled and ok.
Dinner last night was breaded chicken portions with pasta in a mushroom sauce. Tonight we'll be having sausages, mash, veg, onion and gravy.
Back to work today - it may be quite busy as this often happens after a Bank Holiday, we'll see.
Yesterday I got a wash load dry on the line but not sure if that's possible today, will check the forecast.
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks and thanks SILVER-OLDIE. I wish you had some support today, it's hard dealing with this all by yourself. xx
After a couple of decent nights sleep I was back to clockwatching again last night. Should have known it wouldn't last.
I never got in town after all yesterday as it dawned on me the buses would be running a Sunday service - hourly from 11.00 a.m. I didn't want to risk just missing one back up again and having almost an hour to wait for the next. So instead I made a half hearted attempt at resuming the de-cluttering I started ages ago. I managed a full bag for the cs and another bag for the bin before I'd had enough! Much more to be done when I cba.
Anyway, being Tuesday, I shall be out a good few hours today and, hopefully, will miss any more noise from next door! As usual it's my regular meet up with my oldest buddy for coffees and then lunch. And much talking! Followed by a wander round town, hopefully just browsing and not spending!
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) as always for the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely. Thinking especially of SILVER-OLDIE. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning all
Bright and sunny here but very cold sitting here with a blanket over me
Work yesterday was horrid it was so busy we did not stop all day I did not sit down once from 8.30 till 5.00 and most of us had nothing to eat we were two staff down too its very chaotic and disorganised up there I am glad to be going back to my organised cafe today !!
Not sure about dinner tonight might be some stuffed pasta with dough balls and salad nice and easy.
We have some ebay parcels to post tonight and I need to phone and pay off the balance on our holiday.
SO thinking of you, has your DS been in touch at all ??
Poppy thinking of you xx
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning all! Today is start-doing-something-now-before-your-arms-fall-off-from-disuse day....So out with the heat gun and onwards with the paint removal...And definitely sow the beans, and put out the sweet peas [ which I did not know could be perennial!]
Made a green thai curry last night, there's enough for tonight with extra rice, so that's sorted, no cooking today..
My chest and collarbone are a lovely sunburn colour but as yet, don't have any big blisters, just bits that are threatening blistering up, but I think they'll be fine unless they get rubbed by anything...
I also lost my lovely neck scarf/hoodie thing that I knitted with some very expensive wool at the beginning of winter last year in the cinema on Sunday. It was thick and long and black...And I phoned as soon as I got hme, but no one had seen it or handed it in...gutted...will have to make another one now, good job it's getting to summer. I've got more that I knitted but this was the zenith of knitdom that I had approached using this idea...Oh well, clackety future clack...
SO, oh...take it steady, must be very hard for you doing this alone, virtual shoring up hugs and tea and cake for you with us lot instead...not the same though, but still thinking of you. TA, enjoy your day out. Happy cooking Hester, the biggest thing I've done is breakfast for 21 people, I'm impressed with your skillset! Hey Holly
Hope everyone is happily too busy to post, otherwise it's back to virtual hugs for you...
Wotcha missings...

Morning all, thank you for starting the thread SO. I hope today isn't too awful.
I'm just getting on with laundry, packing up bits and bobs etc. Also I have a telephone interview for some freelance work tomorrow so should do a bit of prep for that at some point.
OH and DS had huge steaks last night, I had some macaroni cheese and salad. No idea about tonight, OH can cook.
Hope everyone's day is as good as possible.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning everyone
SO thinking of you today.
Hester - enjoy your cooking, are you doing all that on the boat?
Ta - enjoy your day out.
Spoke to ds2 yesterday, he still seems upbeat and enjoying his work in France.
Days off till Friday now so need to try and catch up with jobs. Dogs walked, will go for a run. The the joys of cleaning before I do some gardening. Would rather be out in the garden but house is badly in need of a vacuuming due to the 2 dogs so will get that out of the way.
Hugs to anyone that needs/wants one. Take care all and enjoy your day.0 -
Morning all
Just got back from the GP's and another blood test needs doing. Something was flagged up last Dec but non urgent, which could be the answer to my face/head problem. ( probably not though as nothing is ever that simple with me
.) Unfortunately the bloods can't be done till we're back from hols as the first appointment is when we're away. Hey Ho I'll just keep taking the tablets till I rattle :rotfl:.
Anyway we have a delightful afternoon of waiting around for Mr Fix It's oncology injection at 4pm, which will be more than likely about 5pm . I do wish they could do them in the mornings.
Before we go I shall make a start on tea, it's wedgie potatoes and a chicken and black pudding roll wrapped in bacon, so that it's ready to cook when we get home.
SilverOldie sending you virtual strength and support.
Take care all

That is such a sad thing about the babies being dumped and Thank Heavens for people like your DD. You must be so proud of her and for good reason.
Just had a grocery delivery and got everything packed away. Dishwasher is on and might pop out to post office later to deposit a couple of small cheques as there is no bank in the town now. Tomorrow is library volunteering unless I am needed for baby grand daughter if she is poorly again, so fingers crossed.
I had a brunch of bagels and coffee and have a little steak with mushrooms and mash left from yesterday so that will do for tonight.
TA
Very sensible not to risk the buses yesterday and have a good time with your friend today."This site is addictive!"
