Are they definitely going to introduce a £20 annual fee for everyone? Does anyone know?

My anniversary with them is up in early January and I hope they would at least give me some notice if they intend to charge a fee so that I can cancel the card.

We have had a Goldfish card for years and I too would like to think they would let us know if they were going to start charging a yearly charge!!!
    :j
  • Agreed, so far people have reported it appearing on the back of their statement but I've been checking mine for the last 2 months and so far no mention of an annual charge.
Does anyone have confirmation of this or a link to where it is stated?
  • All the information is on their website &C's. Goldfish only charge a £20 annual fee for the Morgan Stanley Platinum card (which you can no longer apply for), and for SOME of the CSMA cards. None of their other cards currently have an annual fee. :j

I've had the Platinum card for some years, but no annual fee has been mentioned so far.

Having carefully scrutinized the back of my last statement there is a mention of a £20 annual fee (in very small print). I was led to believe they would actually notify me if they were going to apply this charge. So presumably they won't and I will get clobbered with it next month. Do they still pay the 1% cashback on the first £2000 spent in any one year followed by 0.5% thereafter? I do not have a Platinum card, just a plain old Classic one!

I have just rang Customer Services and asked them about annual fees. I was told that they do not charge an annual fee at the moment and that if they were going to charge me a fee they would have to inform me in writing as it would be a change to Terms and Conditions.

I have MS Platinum card and it is still 1% on first £2000 and 0.5% above that. I have just confirmed that is still the case on the phone as well.
  • Oops, made a mistake.... I meant to say they charge an annual fee ONLY the CLASSIC card (usually black in colour), and SOME of the CSMA cards. Sorry, me and my stupid typos. lol

Phoned customer services today and actually managed to get a definitive answer about the fee. Was told that yes I would definfitely be charged the £20 fee on my Classic card, but not until next June. Ironically enough when I got the card I was convinced it was a Platinum card because that is what I had applied for, but they didn't bother to tell me that it was just a Classic.

Trouble is there is not a lot about in the way of cashback cards and even though they are basically taking back the 1% cashback on the first £2000 spent (i.e. the £20 fee) they are still paying 0.5% on everything else, which is, I suppose, better than nothing.

I did try to get the Capital One cashback card some months ago, but didn't meet to their exacting standards!!!
