mixing decking stain

Hi All,
I am planning to restain my decking soon (approx. 8m x 3.5m). I have bought a 2.5l Cuprinol Anti Slip stain, Boston Teak, as I liked the colour. I have also discovered about half a 5L stain of the same brand but different colour, Natural, left behind the previous owner. When combined, if possible, should be enough for 2 or three coats.
My question is, it possible to mix different stains (same brand and type)?
If so, I can see two options:
1. Mix the two in a large bucket and then apply
2. first apply a coat of the one left behind the owner as it is a natural colour and then finish with the the one of the colour I want.
Any advice?

It never goes as far as you think.
Cuprinol say upto 2 coats 20sqm
28sqm of decking maybe 1coat.0 -
Hi, I know that one 2.5L tin would not be enough. That's exactly why I am asking if it would be possible to utilise another tin of lighter shade as the base coat before applying a coat of the shade I want.0

Check the VOC symbol on both tins, they need to be the same to mix them. High is best for decking IMO, surface coatings just wear off. I think the Screwfix no frills deck oil is about the best solvent based (ie penetrating preserver) treatment readily available and good value.
I hate the way Ronseal / Cuprinol / other leading brands will call a water based solvent free product Decking Oil when they are the opposite of oil based, sit on the surface and wear off within the year.Mr Generous - Landlord for more than 10 years. Generous? - Possibly but sarcastic more likely.0
