<sigh> For the avoidance of doubt, I thought I was being fairly clear in my assumption that the OP could/should hire somebody competent if they do not possess suitable competence themselves.

My apologies for any misunderstanding arising from a failure to take that implication.

In other words, it needs to be a bodge job that will probably be not as safe or strong as it should be

The stresses that those seat bracket would be under should the car be involved in an accident and there is someone strapped into that seat could be immense
    .

Rubbish. It will be using the same techniques as used in motorsports because all WRC cars are constructed from standard road vehicles and the seats have to have custom brackets and mounting subframes made for them. If its good enough for a WRC car that has to be built to allow the occupants a chance of survival wrapping around a tree at 100MPH then it'll be just fine for a Prius crawling around London. It may even actually be stronger than the original given the original is just the seat runners bolted into a captive nut welded into the floorpan.

I would have thought that the mechanics and engineers working on those vehicle and manufacturing parts for them would have more than "a modicum of fabrication capability.", something that Adrian thinks sufficient.

Yes, your earlier post was fairly clear:

You might need to make some brackets to adapt whatever seat to the car's mounts, but they're straightforward for anybody with even a modicum of fabrication capability.

How can that statement be taken any other way than to be seen as suggesting that the OP makes the brackets themselves, even if they possess only a modicum of skills?

    Yes...

"You might need to make". If they aren't already available for the particular seat you require.

"Make" includes hiring somebody to make on your behalf, y'know.
Same as "change the bald tyre" includes hiring somebody to change it.

It's really not a hard concept to grasp.

    A chalk and cheese argument.
I would hope that the people who modify rally cars are very experienced in the jobs they do and can do it to a very good and safe standard, something that may not be the case for everyone.

Do WRC cars drive on public roads in the UK?
Do they carry passengers on a commercial basis?
Do they require that you inform your insurance company when making any modifications to the vehicle?

Modifying a commercial vehicle could have serious implications for the OPs girlfriend should her car be involved in an accident that caused injury to an occupant because of a fabricated seat mounting bracket that gave way.
