New bank account

Just moved to London from Ireland, I'm staying at a friend from highschool until I find a job and I need to get a bank account. I don't possess any proof that I live here which will surely be a huge hassle when trying to get a bank account in England. My friend offered to attach me to a utility bill in here like gas or water for a month and that I should use this with the bank. Do you think it will work?

Yup it will work. Have them put your. The council tax bill, you should definitely be on that anyway. And get yourself registered to vote.0

Open a Monzo account, they don't need proof of address:

You need to get an NI number, anyway. The letter from HMRC will usually be accepted as proof of address. Getting an NI number is free of charge - don't pay any of the sharks who offer to do it for you in return for money.

How do you add one to a gas/water bill?0

Surely the easiest and quickest option would be to apply for a provisional/full driving licence?0

Assuming that you have a passport (or photo driving licence) and a smartphone, and you don't need access to a physical bank branch, you can open a Starling Bank or Monzo Bank account in minutes. There's no full credit check or need for address verification if you don't ask for overdraft, their debit card arrives in a couple of days or so.Evolution, not revolution0
