I have been visiting China on a regular basis for a number of years now. Never have had my application "checked" by a company, always did everything myself. Is there new rules which require the application to be "checked"?

The Chinese embassy is very efficient, if you live close enough you can complete the form get photos etc and bring it to the embassy , you then collect your visa in 4 days.

When I got mine I did see couriers for visa companies when waiting to be called, so it’s possible to use an agent.

I did the Chinese one directly but used an agent for the Indian visa when I visited India. Only advantage was they came to othe office and collected all my stuff.. still needed to go and get the photos ( different size required for India visa ).

Not sure how those places will work now you have to go to the embassy.
Only the Embassy in London ?

We visited the Consulate in Edinburgh (on a main road into the city) - no problem either to submit or collect 4 days later.

That was 2011, has the procedure changed so that only the Embassy can issue visas ?

There is also an embassy in Manchester. You do not need to go to the embassy if you are 70 or over....being old has some advantages!:think:

How do the visa agents manage now that fingerprinting is required to get a visa?
