Ppi claim advice

Claims firms use the same process you do, they don't have any special skills
Are you sure the PPI wasn't just in your husband's name and are you sure it didn't cover the self-employed (this is a common claims company myth)?
Sold in 2006 yes you can approach the FSCS- just go back to them and explain the situation and see what they come back with

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Very wise. Unless they were with you at the time, they won't have any evidence of you being mis sold.
If you don't have any evidence either, then they're nothing more you can do. Most PPI covered the self employed, so that's unlikely to be a good reason.0 -
It’s not just the self employed bit. We were told we needed to take it out to be in with a chance of getting the loan. Not sure how you’d prove it though when it was all done over the phone.0

You can't, although it may actually have been a condition of the loan, in which case there is no mis sale.0

Which is always the case with verbal accusations like that - told you had to have it, implied you would have a better chance of getting the loan etc, you cannot prove it so there's no point arguing the toss. If the policy would not cover the self-employed and/or you're 100% sure it was taken out to cover you (as opposed to a joint loan where the PPI 100% covered just him) then you can complain about that.Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
