I already said we're getting an experienced kitchen fitter. He fits kitchen for an independent company who sell high end, terrifyingly expensive German kitchens.
Rather go to DIY kitchens and pay around £2,500 for units and worktops and £700 to fit it , than go to Wren or Magnet and pay £5-6k for lower quality units or to an independent and pay £12 k for very similar quality units.
The plan the independent we went to produced was utterly uninspiring. Big difference between being a kitchen designer and actually knowing anything about interior design concepts and were going to be left with a 3.4m run of units on one side of the room and the microwave , oven and F/F on an adjacent wall 1.8 m away from any work surface. Essentially a big hole in the middle of a 3.2m x 3.4m kitchen.
