PlayStation 4 running Linux ?

From the stuff I’ve read I think it’s possible to run Linux on the PS4 (not sure if this can be done on all versions of PS4, I’ve got a slim one, not Pro or original version).

I think this can be done by initialisation/booting from a USB flash drive. I assume there’s a bit of a risk doing this - one doesn’t want to get banned from the PS Network...

But what exactly would be the point of all this? What could Linux running on the PS4 be used for?

I think a USB mini hub is needed (as there aren’t enough USB sockets on the PS4).

Any thoughts? Ta.

They do it just for the technical challenge of doing it more than anything as due to lack of video drivers the performance isn't that great.

If you want to do it for the challenge then go ahead, I would personally use a different hard drive than the original internal one (replace it with a cheap 120GB SSD for example) in order to minimise the risk of a console ban.
