Low tech Swatch problem

Decidedly low tech problem but it's driving me mad! This seems like the most appropriate board to post on.

The issue is with the date function on one of my Swatches. It's mechanical and has to be manually adjusted by advancing the date at the end of months with 28, 29 or 30 days in.

It keeps on ticking over to a new date at noon as opposed to midnight. I know that with some watches it makes a difference when you manually advance the date. But for a week now I've been experimenting with changing the date between noon and midnight, and between midnight and noon, but it keeps changing again at noon.

I've got two other Swatches and two Seikos with the same date function, but they're all functioning correctly.

What am I doing wrong? (NB the instructions are not sufficiently detailed other than "pull out the crown to the first stop and adjust the date" or words to that effect).

EDIT: I wear the watches in rotation and had to change the battery in all three Swatches last month as I hadn't worn any of them for a while. But I don't see why I have a problem with only one of the three?

Rather than the first stop, pull the crown all the way out and turn the hands on 12 hours.

If your watch is rotating the date at noon it means its 12 hrs out so your noon is the watch's midnight. Rotate it forward (or backwards) 12 hrs and the problem will be solved.

(do we seriously need to explain this? Old school watches have been around for donkeys years long before digital watches)

    Apparently so! Thanks.

Digital watches have been around for 50 years or so. There are at least two generations out there who may not have ever had a clockwork watch.....
Just as there are older citizens who wouldn't have a clue about the workings of a digital watch.;)

Got to admit I'm old enough to know better! And I'm sure I've worked this out for myself before. Perhaps it's the first sign of senility...

I'm going to wait until 14:00 hours to see if it's worked.

God I feel such an idiot! Have to wait and see...

EDIT: got to add that my wife is most amused at the amount of "time" I spend (or waste) moving all my watches (incl the digital ones) forwards and backwards on the last Sunday in March and October. And then I monitor them weekly to check the best timekeepers. We recently inherited a radio signal clock and it's great fun comparing them all! :)

Most accurate so far is a Polar Accurex II Nightvision heart monitor (25 years old). Then the Swatches followed by the Seikos and assorted Casio digitals.

Gotta go to rescue a bumblebee that's flown in the window from the wisteria outside. Then it's back to the watches!

    Plenty...

12:09. Seems OK so far but can take an hour or so to complete date rotation. Very exciting! Tenterhooks etc. Might need to put heart rate monitor on to stay calm!

Edit: Admiring your signature. A watch that says 10pm at 10am could have its uses...hic

    Seems to have worked OK.

    Thank you everyone.

Hopefully it ticks over to 5 at midnight.

Sorry since having access to an analogue watch since the age of 13 I thought it would be common knowledge that the watch has to have some way of knowing whether its midnight or midday otherwise it would change the date every time it came round to 12 o'clock...
