Thanks

Do the rear seats fold down? If so, there may be a boot release button or cord on the inside.0

I had some thing similar with my Honda, it seems something in the boot, got next to the locking part and stuck in it.
In the end they took the seats in the back down, took out the stuff in the boot until they found the stuck item then pulled / wiggled etc to free it, it took an age but they did it in the end.Breast Cancer Now 100 miles October 2022 100 / 100miles

My Civic had a similar problem, and I could only release the boot by using a switch accessed under a cover from inside the boot.
The garage tracked it down to a faulty microswitch in the drivers door, which detected when the driver's door was unlocked, and so unlocked the boot (or rather activated the exterior electronic push switch that opened the boot).0 -
Is the central locking failing to unlock it, or has he actually tried the key in the lock?0

Thanks all. The boot doesn't have a key operated lock. Further questionng of son has revealed central locking not working. Trip to the garage coming up. Boot doesn't seem to operate without cenyrsl locking but I will tell him to check for a boot release catch behind the rear seats."It's hard to be a diamond in a rhinestone world"0

Before going to the garage check the fuse for the central locking in the fuse box. Will save you a £50 bill for a 50p fuse if it is.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Might also be worth disconnecting the battery for half an hour to reboot the central locking module.0
