hello, i am on universal credit and will be getting my first job.
my worry is this job is paid weekly & i am not sure how my monthly UC will work out?
for example, will it be a month behind.. so in weeks where i am paid 5 weekly - will i get a more money overal because UC will be a month behind and on this month based on a 4 weekly wage.
and then visa versa where i now get a 4 weekly wage but because month before based on a 5 weekly wage a lot less money?

Your UC will vary dependent on the actual wages paid in the UC assessment period.
In assessment months where you receive 5 wage slips, you are correct in thinking your UC will reduce.Alice Holt Forest situated some 4 miles south of Farnham forms the most northerly gateway to the South Downs National Park.0 -
Thank you for your reply. What i mean is is it not in arrears so for example i am paid UC 1st May oridnarily but on 1st May i start my job...
So 1st June i am paid my last months award and get extras of new wages paid weekly..
And then for 1st July payment the month behind comes into count & the 1may-1june wages are now counted?
Ie universal credit is paid a month behind. What i get paid 1st June it is counting my earnings for 1april-1may, ie a month behind and my first uc payment with my job earnings counted will be showing my job earnings 1st July showing 1may-1june earnings?
I ask this because it take 5 weeks to get a payment so that is a month behind?0 -

You start your job on 1st May
You get paid on 8th May, 15th May, 22nd May, 29th May.
If you are paid UC on 1st May this will be for the period 24th March to 23rd April (I think). So payment on 1st May will be your full UC amount as no wages have been earned in that period.
Your payment on 1st June will be for 24th April to 23rd May. So three lots of wages will be taken into account (8th May, 15th May, 22nd May) so your UC will be reduced. On 1st July there will be 4 lots of wages and your UC will reduce again. The UC will then generally take into 4 lots of wages but there will be some months in which 5 lots of wages are taken into account and these months you will get less UC.

Thank you i was confused because of the following;
example my UC full is paid 1st May but this is the day i also start my job.
1st June will it or will it not count wages from 1st May... say i started monday and do 40 hours a week, how many weeks of wages will they count (if any) for the June payment? or is it perhaps a month behind so... my UC only show these wages in 1st July, ie a month behind counting May-June wages for July.?0 -

You said you will be paid weekly. Wages actually received within the monthly assessment period will be taken into account. The assessment period ends a week before the payment date.
I've explained it as clearly as I can in my previous post, I don’t know how to make it any clearer.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0 -
I’m paid weekly and there are 5 months a year where 5 weekly payments are reported and I therefore lose that off my UC ( using the adjustment of the money over your work allowance x 0.63)I think it depends on your assessment period - mine is 22-21 and I get my UC on the 28th.My employer reports to IR every Friday. You just have to learn to budget around it . I found doing a spreadsheet showing the months I lose out allowed me to adjust my DDs and save towards the leaner monyhs.
At least the work allowance went up this month for me ( I have a child still in education.)0 -

hi so your UC is calculated based on assesment period month before..
so for example you are paid june 1st and cut off is 7 days before that so anything i earn from may 1-may24th will reflect my uc payment in June? it isnt a case of a month behind so junes payment isnt based on 1april-24thapril?0 -
