Amazon no longer offering 'one day' Prime delivery?

Out if curiosity, how often do you really need the item the next day?
Aside from when I forgot a birthday, the one day delivery is nice to have but waiting an extra few days really isn't an issue. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -

Yes, I order a lot of stuff from Amazon and have noticed the same recently.
I suspect it is not a logistical issue at all but that they're actually doing A/B Testing to see what effect different and longer delivery times have on their orders and bottom line...Out if curiosity, how often do you really need the item the next day?
Obviously everyone's need are different but for me, more often that not, I do need stuff next day because I have workmen on site waiting on fittings and consumables etc.Every generation blames the one before...

My item that came from Germany was not direct courier. It went to Amazon Rochester then put into the UK mail system.0

Thought I would popo back and see if the usual comments occur as in every other version of this thread for the last 10 years ;-)
I see the link you gace for an item is not a supplied by amazon item so does not really count. Do you expect a third party to have full stock at every amazon depo? Seems unlikely. And even if they did, do you think they are going to restock when one is out? Not good for bulk purchase is it when stock can be moved around.
So yes it's prime, no it's not amazon, don't expect the same level of service.
Incidentally i can now add my windscreen wiper anecdote! Wipers are also prime though a third party and not sold by amazon. Everytime I have ordered them in the last 6 years I get the rear one next day and the frotn ones appear to ship from Germany. They take a few more days. But again, it says delivery estimate on the order so I know when it is coming.
Complain about delivery when you can find any company that delivers faster from themselves and third parties. (yeah actually hated here but I find currys do, I ordered 11:pm and got delivery before 9:00am, but they do not sell things I want every day!)0 -
I can still get same day delivery if i order early.
The link put about no slots available has not affected me. Ordered stuff around 3:30pm and it arrived just before 5pm. With the traffic around here at that time of day they must have a time machine.
Some items are just too expensive though with prime delivery. Yet other items are silly cheap. 40mm fan delivered the same day for about £3.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Ordered placed 1/5/19 selected delivery date 4/5/19 as it was earliest after order placed it was changed to between 4-10th - Got £5 credit on it though so basically a freebie.0

Something has definitely changed in recent times; I've been an Amazon customer for two decades now and they've always excelled at managing expectations.
Recently though there have been two notable issues that keep re-occurring.
1) Delayed deliveries - Prime deliveries that should arrive next day are actually taking 2, 3 or 4 days. I get the email saying despatched the same day as ordered but then late the next day I get another email "We wanted to let you know there may be a delay in delivering..." Since this thread started two months ago this has probably happened around a dozen times.
2) Next Day not offered on multi-buys - I'll search for a Prime product advertising next day but when I change the quantity to 2 the delivery will change to 2 or 3 days.
Amazon still offer an excellent service but it's pretty obvious to me that they've made changes in an effort to cut costs and increase profitability.Every generation blames the one before...
