Samsung Galaxy Buds question

Hope you don't mind me putting this here, but it's more of a tech question than a phone or phone company question (I think). And you'll probably all think I'm silly for asking, :o but I don't know who else to ask! :)

I want to get some blue tooth ear phones to use to watch TV on my Galaxy S8. So when we have visitors I can watch in bedroom next to guest bedroom without disturbing them.

The Grauniad gave the Samsung Galaxy Buds a decent write up today, but only talk about listening to music. Other sites don't seem to think much of them, but they also only talk about listening to music while running or working out.

So can I use them for sound while watching TV via apps eg ITV Hub, iPlayer etc on my phone? And what about Amazon Video? Seems to me that it should be possible, but I don't want to cough up £139 to find they don't do what I want them for! Though I may be Tech useless I have at least worked out how to pair phone to speakers via Blue Tooth, though it can be a bit hit and miss if I haven't done it for a while! :rotfl:

I'm sorry to be so Tech stupid - after a year and a half I still can't get fully to grips with my S8 smart phone. :o People here have been very kind to me over the years, :j and I do try to not annoy too often! ;)

Has it not got a headphone jack ? I thought it has , but I may be wrong but hey some wired buds can be had for circa £10 and more choice if using the jack. Mind you my old ears not not that sensitive :D
Edit: Just checked it has a jack

Thanks debitcardmayhem. I have wired earphones, but the ones I'm asking about are Blue Tooth and don't have wires. I'm disabled and spend a lot of time in bed, so am looking for something without wires - I just get tangled up in them when I turn over! :o :rotfl:

Any Bluetooth headphones or earphones will allow you to listen to music or watch video (Netflix, TV etc etc).

There are plenty of cheaper options on Amazon, although the Galaxy buds do seem to be a popular choice. Note that Samsung have just been giving them away free with certain versions of the S10 phone, so I have seen about 10 sets (mostly still sealed) on my local facebook selling pages - maybe an option for a cheaper set for you?

Although I now use Sony Noise cancelling headphones mainly, I have used Anker earbids and Treblab X5 Bluetooth Earbuds before (both from Amazon) and both are very good, and under £50.

Thank you! I'd hoped that was the case, but wasn't sure.

I'll look into your other suggestions too. I don't need Fantastic Brilliant Hi-Fi sound, just something I can hear! ;) Unless I can persuade OH to treat me of course! :rotfl: (very unlikely!)
  • I've been using Mpow bluetooth earbuds available on Amazon for around £20 for 6 months and I have found these to be really good. I don't see the point in spending any more unless you're a audiophile.
If you're spending a lot of time using them while stationary I would maybe get some good wired over ear headphones as there are studies linking heavy usage with cancer and also these maybe more comfortable.
