O/S Daily Thursday May 2nd 2019

This is is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning...Wow, am I early or is everyone late? Went to the diner, had me pancakes and bacon [yes I live for what I can put in my stomach] had the last radio, woop, along with another lady who was there also having her last one.
Went to bed fairly earylish after a 3 hour nap, and today is a new day, with no appointments, with no rush to go anywhere, with no stress and with maybe some chipper beginnings.
I have a plan for the garden, OH is on board, we have a plan for the house, everything will be done in the next four years or so, so that's sorted.
Now, am going to enjoy myself for the next week or so too and not have a massive list of things to do... Short post today, but I am actually feeling quite positive and happy, I thought I'd be all doom and gloom....

Hope you all have a good day today, I certainly will :)
    Wotcha missings....
    Terrific Thursday!!

Morning folks thanks TAFF. I agree with REDRUBY - just get your feet up for a bit, you have earned it.

I had a rubbish night last night.I couldn't sleep for thinking about, and dreading, the 6 month memorial service at the hospice this afternoon. I don't really know what to expect and whether it will be helpful.

Meanwhile life goes on at Casa Abuela. The DGDs are up and watching Paw Patrol. They are all three back tonight so the Thursday "fix" is on the menu as usual. I left the Bolognese in the slow cooker last night and the kitchen smelled lovely this morning.

Shopping day today. After the massive re-stock I did at Aldi last Thursday I don't need a great deal today. Mostly fridge stuff and F & V. DS is picking me up and I am treating myself to Sainsbob's today as there are a few bits I want that Aldi don't sell.

Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) to all in need or want of them. Take care all xx

    Morning all.

Great to read your positive post taff, and congrats on your last radio. I can imagine it's been a slog,

After the disappointments of Tuesday for DM yesterday she's was a little more on the happy side. She asked me to bring in fish and chips from the wee shop opposite the hospital so that meant a late visit from me at 6pm. The chippie does 'small' portions though it turned out to be big enough to feed two people!

Anyway, I took a sachet of ketchup and so on with me. DM was delighted - she'd been telling everyone there about her fish and chips. She managed to eat all the fish, carefully picking off the batter, and about half of the chips. Such a joy to watch.

Today I'm teaching so a friend is so to visit DM.

AoD - sorry you're having to move and I hope your OH gets motivated by it.

Thoughts to all - Happy Wednesday everyone.

Blimey taff we dont usually see you in the early morning breakfast club :D Must be such a relief to have it all finished at last and yes in your position I would be grabbing life by the short and curlys too Enjoy :)

TAI hope today goes well for you I am guessing it will be a sad day for you all but hopefully a day to remember all the good memories of Bob as a family too. x

Week has turned all a bit manic work wise now so already started and will be working late too I guess. 2 skype vids today and as its new peeps that means having to fake it by dressing like someone who knows what they are talking about

Food wise I have grabbed some pizza out of the freezer so will have that zapped in the micro later.

Have a great day all if you can

    Good morning,

It seems to be quieter and quieter on here in the mornings. I hope everyone's doing ok.

As predicted, I left earlier than usual, but it was still an hour or so after I'm meant to finish. I enjoyed a relaxing night on the xbox with my pals from back home, always a good laugh. NSD #1 for the month, too!

Today however I have been to the gym this morning already and I'll go after for a run. My planner thing says 6 miles but we'll see. I've brought a jacket and trousers into work with me as I need to take to the dry cleaners today, so today will be a spend day. I've also brought a (cheap-ish) watch with me which needs fixed, too. I've got a wish-list set up on Asos for some last minute holiday clothes, so I'll also buy them today at lunch so I have them in time for next week. Finally, to make the most of my spend day, I need to visit the SM to get some things to last me a few days, in an attempt to avoid racking up spend days over the weekend. Busy little day.

    So, I must get cracking.

Taff - Delighted for you. And pancakes and bacon!?!?! Amazing. It's great to hear you so positive.
TA - I hope today isn't full of pain and sadness. Thinking of you.

Morning, sunny here but heavy showers to arrive later, drat, I've yet more washing but will hang I indoors.

Not much of a plan today, I'll carry on sorting stuff out, am gradually taking books to the CS, only the ones I probably won't reread, I do buy an awful lot of books.

    Congratulations ~taff!

TA I'll be thinking of you today.

Gers, please don't be sorry that I have to move, after the initial worry, I'm actually pleased, it is an upheaval but a welcome one, this place is not great and the new one will be heaps nicer.

I must start doing inconsequential things now, will pop back later.

AOD, I'm sorry you have been going through a tough time, good luck with the house move.

Dumpling, I hope Steve's eye is continuing to improve.

Taff, hurrah for finishing radio, onwards and upwards.

Speky, it's funny how the daily goes through peaks and troughs, over the years I've had spells where I've read but not posted and I think there are others who do that.

TA, I hope today isn't too traumatic.

I'm going through one of my spells where I can't get to sleep - not worrying or anything just not going to sleep, I try not to sleep during the day so it's not that.

We planted out the new flower bed yesterday, hopefully it will look great when everything grows and flowers. I think we'll probably be working out there today, luckily it's lovely out there.

    Hi everyone,
Taff, happy to hear you've finished your radio :j
TA- hope the service helps this afternoon.
Gers, glad Mum enjoyed her fish and chips.
    Hope you're ok SO.
Very changeable here- the heavens opened when we took DGS to school. We looked very fetching with our matching Minions umbrellas running up the hill :D .DS snaffled the big brolly because he's the biggest ;) It's actually nice and sunny now.
Just enjoyed some hm soup I cobbled together yesterday.Called in @sda on the way back for a hair dye and picked up a ys lamb joint so we'll have that tonight.I'm just about feeling back to normal after the stomach bug :) although it was more tiredness the last couple of days.My DB2 called yesterday and I fell asleep reading after he'd gone :o

Last night we had pork ribs cooked in the instant pot ,then finished off in the oven with a BBq sauce. It's only since I got the pot that I've started doing them but yay:j a meal everyone enjoys. There is always some stock/fat left in the pot and thats what I used for the basis of my soup yesterday.Once it's separated and I've got the fat off,I freeze it,so there's another lot to go in now,but my veg drawer has been decimated after DH cleared all the bendy veg when I was laid up on Sunday:eek:
AOD- glad you've found a nicer house :T Good luck with the move.
Speky enjoy your hol when you go

Anyway I've run out of waffle now :rotfl:so I'll bid you all a good afternoon xx
