Fraudulent Transactions but Account Now Closed!

Me and my partner have just opened up a joint account together and she has closed her old Lloyds bank account and switched to our now joint account. She had her closing statement today and upon reading through it the very last 4 transactions a few days before the account was officially closed.
She has been in touch with Lloyds who are unable to help us as they have never had a situation where there is fraudulent transactions on a closed bank account and that we have to go into branch with ID, but even still they are unsure that this can be resolved.
I have seen on the money advice website it states that the bank has to pay them back.
unsure what is now going to happen as it is nearly £200 been lost :mad:
Does anyone have any advice or have known of this before?
What if they make a transaction again and it is automatically redirected to our joint account, as it has been switched over through the switch guarantee.

    I think the more pertinent question here is why it took you to get your closing statement to locate the fraudulent transactions "days" (three? five? seven? 14? more?) later when you'd have had more chance of success of reclaiming them while the account was still open.

    The account was already redundant in a way. She had already given her employer our new bank details so her wages were going into the joint account, there was only 2 small direct debits from that account so we left enough in there to cover the costs of them and let the bank switch the accounts over to make sure there was no issues with the direct debits.
    The time scale is so short as well so was only noticed on the closing statement. The account was closed last week and the transactions were literally a few days before the closing date.

    If they have told your partner that she has to turn up in Branch to pursue this, that's what she'll have to do. She should come armed with an explanation why she couldn't spot the fraudulent transactions before the switch happened.

    She may also wish to report the fraud to ActionFraud. If she/you are worried that further fraud will occur against your joint account, it's best to check that account daily, or at least weekly. Presumably you both have online access, so it should be easy enough to do, and it's good practice in any case.

    Unless it was a direct debit or standing order, it wouldn't have been transferred across.

    Thanks, hopefully it all goes well tomorrow then and see that the reason it was missed was it happened in such a short time scale and the account wasn't being used for anything other than the remaing direct debits.

    Thanks, the transactions were 2 from deliveroo (who don't even deliver in the area we live) and the others are from websites we have never heard of before. i was just under the impression of if they had the old account details if those are used again it would be redirected through to the joint.

    Deliveroo don't take money by using account details and nor do websites that you have never heard of unless by direct debit. Were these debit card transactions or what?
