What time of month to complete

We are currently going through a mortgage application with NatWest. I am looking for some advice as to when is the best time of the month to complete. We are looking at setting our direct debits to the first day of the month, so would it be better to complete on the last day of the month before? How does this affect mortgage payments? Any help would be appreciated.

Complete when it suits you, ie current accommodation check out or existing sale dates.

You can ask the lender to take the payment on the first of the month, they will let you know the first payment (which will take into account a short or long month worth of interest) and subsequent payments.
  • Thanks, I don't suppose you would know specifically if this first payment would be scheduled in arrears or in advance of the first full month, plus the interest accruing?

    Ask the lender.

With HSBC - i completed in November, the first payment was January which included interest from November, plus Decembers capital and interest payment.
  • Okay great, thanks to both for your help.

Don't complete on a Friday. You can't fix any problems with the completion on a Saturday.

Agree with not completing on a Friday.. I like a Monday or Tuesday ..wednesday at a push.

To have all your worldly goods in limbo if something goes wrong will make it the longest weekend ever , also I'd advise not to exchange and complete on the same day
