Taxi waiting time fee

    Pretty sure any extra fees should have been declared as you got in the taxi, not as you were ready to get out. I would have told him to shove it and just paid the original fare..

    They were probable clearly displayed on the meter and the op chose to assume it would be a fixed price.

    And still expect to use them again ? ( assuming the Op doesnt have a choice)


    as it was a hackney the price should have been displayed on the meter

    Then don't use them again. There are plenty of taxi firms out there.

    If you book a taxi for a certain time, you should be ready to get into it as soon as it turns up. My son has school transport, and it can arrive any time between 8.20 and 8.40am. My son is ready by 8.10am. It means that most days we are waiting for the school transport to turn up, but it is my responsibility as his parent to make sure that he is ready in time.

    I know that it's sometimes difficult to get kids ready - it's not always easy with a disabled 21 year old - but if you can't be on time virtually every morning, then you should get up earlier to make sure that you are not keeping the taxi waiting. At one point, I was getting two sons (one severely disabled and doubly incontinent) and one daughter out on time for three different schools. It wasn't easy, but it was possible.
