Balance transfer to wife

in Credit cards
I've got a 0% credit card ( doesnt expire until 2020) but I want to balance transfer it now to a new one so we have longer to pay it off and a set goal in mind (around 24 months).
I know people will think just wait until this one gets closer but I want it sorted so we can set monthly payments at the right level and forget about it.
Question - can I balance transfer a card in my name to a new card in my wifes name? Or should we just get her a money transfer one and do it that way?

Some cards let you do it. Some don’t.
You’d need to ask a lender before making the application0 -
Semantics maybe, but you can't balance transfer to a card in her name. She can balance transfer from a card in your name to one in her name but only if the card company will allow it - not all do. The debt will then be legally hers.
A Money Transfer card in her name can be used to the same effect.
Watch out for the effect of BT and MT fees and remember you cannot guarantee what her credit limit will be when she actually applies for the new card - or if she will even be accepted for a card.0 -
Tesco don't allow it, Barclaycard do, so just be sure to check the rules of the lender before applying for the card.0
