Current Lidl CEO

Hi,

My mother-in-law recently received a PCN from Athena regarding her overstaying her welcome in a Lidl car park by 38 minutes. Having read the newbie post, and a few other posts around the subject in the forum, my understanding is the quickest and easiest way to have this quashed is to contact the Lidl CEO directly, with proof of shopping at one of their stores at the time... However, the email address provided in the forum seems to be for Christian Hartnagel, who appears to have left the company. According to Wikipedia, Jesper Højer was the most recent CEO, but even he appears to have left stepped down this month (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jesper_H%C3%B8jer). Does anyone have the email address or name for the current CEO?

I intend on appealing with Athena too, although I suspect it will just be rejected by them.

Hojer was the boss of the german arm of LIDL, not the UK business

AFAIK its still Hartnagel, so try it

Thanks, you are correct, that is the case.

Just spoke to my mother-in-law about this, she paid cash for her shopping, and has since binned the receipt (she was only food shopping, and had no reason to keep it at the time). As she has no evidence of shopping there that day, what options does she have with regards to appealing it?

very few, as ATHENA are likely to reject any appeal as you already stated

a complaint to the CEO is currently the only way to get this quashed , nothing to lose by trying, perhaps showing previous receipts to prove patronage would help ?

in future, stop binning shopping or parking receipts

I have been telling my wife , family & friends to keep them for 6 months or more for the last 6 years

Thanks again. Yes I agree, keeping receipts for at least a few weeks is a very wise decision. Annoyingly, as she gets paid in cash, she always pays for her shopping in cash, so no bank statement evidence of her loyalty to the store, even though she shops there every week!

I will appeal to Athena anyway as there is no harm, and I will try to come up with an email to the UK MD of Lidl and see where I get. I guess if the appeal is rejected and Lidl refuse to intervene she is left with no choice but to pay it? I assume the old way of just ignoring their letters doesnt cut it any more?

there is no compulsion to pay the pcn unless a judge says so, in court

after 6 years , they cannot enforce the alleged debt

to avoid this scenario, the complaint should go in to the CEO and see what they do , then in future KEEP the cash receipts

if she knows what items were purchased, they may track down the actual till receipt , but her copy was the contract and the guarantee etc , hence why its important to keep them and stop binning them so promptly , being tidy does not help in these matters due to postal delays etc , hence 3 to 6 months is what I tell my missus - just in case (regardless of if its cash or card)

the email complaint should include a list of these items, or as close a match as possible

You guess completely wrong. You would be mad to pay it. Nothing happens!

With Athena cases there is no point appealing. ONLY the CEO complaint works. DO THAT.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.
