Company forcing me to use corporate Amex card

What about all the air miles or whatever other perks you could have had? Does your employer cut you in on their kickback for the inconvenience of having to stay away from home?
well, if my employer is paying for the flight, I guess they should get the miles?
I get compensated separately for being "away from home"0 -
Isn't the bigger worry for the OP the fact that AMEX seems to be less and less available as a payment option in a lot more places these days. I'm always seeing "we no longer accept AMEX" signs all over the place.
Really? I have a personal Amex Cashback card and see the opposite, more and more places accepting Amex. I spend a very small % of my annual spending on my non Amex credit card.0 -

In my experience it is the other way round , more and more places are accepting it. In the last year off the top of my head quickly i know Domino's Pizza, Lidl, Aldi and Overclockers have started accepting Amex. I use my Amex for almost all my transactions, my car insurance and renewal of my passport being the only ones i can remember where i had to use my Mastercard.0 -
Honestly, you lot complaining about how well accepted Amex is... well my last company issued everyone with a corporate Diners Club card! Can you imagine just how much fun it was trying to get that accepted
Personally I wish I could use my own Amex, would make a small fortune in cashback, but everywhere I go seems to have a corporate card policy these days... and mine now has to be paid by direct debit out of my bank account. Focuses the mind on getting expense claims submitted quickly!0 -
Hi,
My employer has recently introduced a new global policy that all employees must sign up for a corporate Amex card, and use it for all business-related expenses. Nothing wrong with this per-se but there a couple of aspects that worry me:- I'm being asked to sign an agreement that I am "Personally responsible for all the charges made on the card"
- The card is administered out of the US and not the UK/EU so I'm being to sign up to some very scary Ts&Cs
A few things worry me:- Even if the card was used fraudulently, then I seem to be agreeing that I am responsible for these charges. I have read elsewhere that fraud and consumer protection rules that apply to normal credit cards don't apply to corporate versions.
- Whilst the company is responsible for paying the card each month - what if finance messes up and incur charges/penalties, I seem to be making myself liable for these also.
I appreciate other people's thoughts, please.
Abe
I've had a company credit card with two different employers.
In both cases I had to claim the money and settle the card myself.
Employer 1 had the following policy, with a joint liability card.
The theoretical policy was:
1) Everything on the company card
2) If you can't put it on the card pay cash
It didn't work because
1) You can't put everything on the company card
2) You can't get £1100 in foreign cash at 8am in the morning, and in any case the hotel isn't going to be happy,
The reality was:
1) Car hire and hotel went on the company card
2) Everything else went on my own card.
3) If the company card didn't work, I used my own card.
4) Nobody complained.
Employer 2: Sole liability card
Company card policy was irrelevant, because if I'm forced to pay the bill regardless of whether my company pays me, then I'm the one that chooses the card, and reaps any benefits.
I didn't even think about the fraud protection issue, but I was certain that the card was UK issued.
My manager didn't even try pushing the point when I rejected the offer.0 -

Personally I think your employer should let you have the miles for a holiday.
But I guess I've only worked for people who don't pay for the inconvenience of being away (and the MD would take the air miles for his own holiday).0
