Disposing of garage cement bonded asbestos sheets - Cambridgeshire lImits

I have approx 8-10 cement bonded asbestos sheets to dispose of. They will be removed from my garage which I want to dispose of, in accordance with proper practice. The County Council in Cambridgeshire allows only 2 sheets to be disposed of per household per year for a fee of £10.50.
They also have a vague condition that the asbestos "is not from home improvement work, including improvements, repairs and alterations to your propoerty". I haven't contacted the Council to clarify whether this condition applies.
Looking online none of the adjacent councils accept it either.
It seems my options are :
1) Use the Council scheme piecemeal over approx 5 years - cost approx £52.50, bit of a faff
2) Get a specialist contractor to remove them - cost expected to be £500+ TBC
3) Take them to another council (eg where my parents live they take 200kg) as an out of county visitor - free (plus fuel), seems allowed per their website
Any thoughts ? Do people feel that 3) is a bit crafty ?
Thanks, Dave

Wow your council are crap! I disposed of an entire asbestos cement garage roof last summer in one trip to the council tip 2 miles away. As long as it's well wrapped they accept "up to 25 sheets", but lets be honest, the guys in hazmat suits don't really want to check, they just want you in and out ASAP.
Sounds like Cambridgeshire just want people to fly tip. I'd go to your parents more taxpayer friendly council personally.
Could you get any friends/family near by to take asbestos for you a couple of sheets at a time? Also to get around my councils '25 sheets' rule, I simply did bundles of sheets in differing amounts. Nobody is going to open the doubled PVC to check how many are in there, so you could do 3 or 4 sheets if it comes in the weight limit. Maybe go the tip and speak to the staff to find out how much they enforce it? You might find they're really relaxed unlike the gestapo types writing the rules.0 -
Thanks Rusty, that’s helpful.0

You could transport it to your parents, leave it there a couple of weeks and then take it to their tip with one of the aforementioned parents.
Yes sneaky but the way that councils police this stuff in an inconsistent way is so infuriating. Our tip does take a bag of asbestos but will start charging for wood in June, largely because all the local builders take waste in their cars to avoid legitimate charges.0 -
