Diagnosed with Adult ADHD & ASD

I am a late 30s male and I was recently diagnosed with Adult ADHD and ASD. I've been driving nearly 20 years but have not informed the DVLA because my doctor says it does not affect my ability to drive safely. Does that also apply to car insurance?

My insurance is up for renewal and I have an outstanding non-fault claim after someone shunted me from behind whilst parked. I was diagnosed after this collision occurred so I am now worried it will somehow affect things.

Car insurance only need to be informed of conditions that the DVLA must be informed of

(Though both ADHD and ASD are on their list that should be reported)
  • Even though both are only reportable if they affect the ability the drive safely? That’s what it says on the GOV.UK website.

If conditions don't need to be disclosed to DVLA then they don't need disclosing to your insurer
