Council Issued PCN
Hi all,
This is my first post so not sure if it’s in the correct place but here goes.
I received a PCN from the council for parking on double yellow lines. The warden took a photo of the front and back of the vehicle and then handed me the print out telling me it was a restricted road (no apparent signage).
Having inspected the ticket the registration number is incorrect - by one character and the colour of the car is completely incorrect.
My question is do I need to pay, ignore or challenge?
The only way I believe they could contact me is through the photographs taken and find my address from the DVLA and potentially re-issue the ticket.
Again, if I have posted this in the wrong place apologies.

Better asking on the parking sub-forum, https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=163
Although they will probably direct you to Pepipoo as the parking forum tend to deal with private parking companies rather than council.0 -
Thanks for the help. I’ve posted my query using the link you shared. Hopefully I’ll get some help with my little problem.0

As per the previous reply, Pepipoo is the place to go for help on "real" council tickets. But in a nutshell, you absolutely MUSTN'T just ignore it - this is a genuine ticket, a totally different kettle of fish from the "invoices" issues by private companies.
You can challenge it, by all means, if you think it was issued incorrectly. Make sure you go through the proper channels, details of which will be clearly stated on the ticket.0 -

Proper council fines are different to private parking invoices, but your advice that they "MUSTN'T just ignore them" does apply to private parking invoices too.0 -
The plate error's easily corrected, given that they have photos.
How different is the colour? Are we talking nit-picky "silver/grey" or "dark blue/black" kinda trivia?
And what additional signage do you think was required, given that there were double yellow lines? Are you arguing that you weren't waiting (prohibited by double yellows), but simply loading/unloading or allowing passengers to get in/out (allowed)?0
