Relocating abroad - Sell now or next year?

Hi all,
We are planning to move abroad next year. My husband is currently working on a project which he'd like to see through to completion before we move. The move is likely to be in June-July 2020 (this isnt a deadline, we can move anytime after that).

I know no one has a crystal ball, but we were wondering if we should sell now and move to rented accommodation or just stay put and go on the market say Jan-Feb next year ? We are in Beckenham, Bromley.

Brexit is such a mess, I am hoping they sort something out so there is stability in the housing market!

What instability are you refering to? People are still buying and selling on a daily basis.

Base your decisions on your own circumstances. Not factors over which you've no control. As there'll always be something on the horizon.

    Which would you prefer.

To live in your home up the moment you leave and leave it empty in the hands of an estate agent (do you have any family/friends who could pick up post, turn heating on/off or check every 7 days for insurance?)

Or to have the sale done and dusted and move into rented?

    ?

If we choose that route, we won’t move abroad until we sell the property.

Best to keep to one thread rather than multiple ones on the same topic.

Selling a higher value property is potentially going to take a lot longer. Takes time for chains to form beneath. Likewise people are moving less often. With the upheavel and cost involved. There's a lot that can be done to enhance/refurbish older properties these days instead. Besides which one gets exactly what one wants. Rather than somebody elses taste.
