I renewed mine last week. It had expired in March and I wasn't going to bother but it now looks certain that we will be in the EU for at least the summer. Quick service - it only took a few days to arrive so they mustn't be busy.

I'm not sure why anybody wouldn't bother for something that's free and takes minimal time.

Expect a flood of threads along the lines of "I got ill on my European holiday and my insurer has refused to pay the whole bill".

I thought I might need mine in Malta....checked the expiry date, it had recently expired.

Renewed it there and then online....date was effective immediately.

Mines valid until 2021. I've set a reminder to renew it then.

I think renewals are effective immediately but I had misplaced my card so it takes a few days to receive a new one.

At least spotting this thread prompted me to check ours as we're going away in the next half term holiday - to find they expired 19 April. So that's three more applications they've received. Told the god-daughter about it later and she hasn't got one - so she's applied too.
