Building Surveyor Recomendation

Hi All,

Please can someone suggest/ recommend me any good surveyor for a Building Survey (property in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire)

EA has recommended one but I dont want to use as they might be biased towards the vendors and the report may not reflect the true picture.

EA quoted me a price of Building Survey£632.00 Plus VAT (£758.40 inclusive)

Price looks OK or its on the steep side.

Thanks in advance

Having used them for two properties, I can highly recommend Gold Crest. They are a national company of RICS regulated surveyors and their prices are very competitive. Their head office is in Derby and the telephone number is 01322 678416.

I would search on the RICS website to find 2 or 3 local surveyors and give them a call. Get a feel for them and ask for a quote.

That's about what I've just paid for my building survey, so feels about right.

I had to pay an additional £70 for a building reinstatement cost valuation, as this wasn't included. So do double check that it's included if you'll be wanting that.

    Good luck!

and if you have any specific concerns, or plans to make alterations, discuss them in advance and see if the surveyor is receptive to commenting on these in his report.

the cheaper surveys will stick closely to a tick-box excercise, commenting pro-forma on each element of the property, whereas a more flexible surveyor may cost a bit more but give you a more pesonalised report. Assuming you want/need that.

I recently paid £600 + VAT and got a great report plus unlimited follow-up phone conversations....

Thanks but unfortunately I am late as I have already booked and paid the £537including VAT to https://goldcrestsurveyors.com (surveyor recomemened by Robinette few posts above)

But now my concern is that as they are nationwide surveyors and once I receive the survey report it will be very difficult to get hold of the surveyor to discuss any thing.

How were Gold Crest in the end? I'm thinking of using them myself for an upcoming property purchase.
