Trying to find properties allowing Housing Benefit

Theoretically I agree, however there are many people working less than 40 hours.
This might be because they have health issues, child care or just a zero hours contract and maybe that’s the best that is available to them.
In an ideal world parents would have flexible working and free kids clubs etc. but we all know it isn’t like that for everyone.
Those examples I’ve mentioned are not just lazy bones who can’t be bothered to work. Being a single parent or dealing with health issues is tough, Not being able to get enough work isn’t great either.
None of those examples are sat on the sofa all day.However, Capitalism doesn't like this!
I’m not sure it’s capitalism.
It’s making it socially acceptable to be a single parent, in-work benefits, zero hours contracts etc.
Do bear in mind that unemployment is at record lows, partly because of in-work benefits.People with children is a bit of a hot topic, as each case is different, I know people with two kids who won't have a 3rd because they can't afford too. They get annoyed at people who don't work and can have more children happily.
But if you told them someone was a single parent with 4 kids and the state was supporting everything for them because there spouse had died, they would support that!

I’m glad people approve supporting those who’ve fallen on hard times.
This is what the welfare state is about, although I’d suggest they could have have thought have life insurance as part of their financial planning, however we have a poor education system and a poor financial advice system.
I agree it’s annoying that those who don’t work can have as many kids as they want.
What do you suggest? Mandatory sterilisation?
I’m sure if there is an easy answer it would have been implemented by now.
If you don’t give them benefits they’ll be on the streets begging and nicking your stuff. Is that what you want?

Just to get this thread back on track, my son advertises his properties on Openrent and will decide on tenants on an individual basis, as I think most do on there.0

OP...its a difficult situation that you are in but I too would possibly suggest openrent as an option.
Its very true that given the choice LL's tend to opt for the "full paying professional" or whatever tag you want to use,but there are some who if you explain your circumstances to might be prepared to give you a tenancy.
I don't advertise that I would consider HB applicants but I do have a set of tenants who are and continue to remain so.they have rented from me for the past 18 months and have been fantastic.My agent contacted me about them initially as they had enquired about a property and actually they have turned out to be a far better fit to the property than someone who would have ticked the affordability/funding criteria.
