virgin

what annoys me is:-
I phoned virgin as my cc 0% rate period has finish after 24 months.
high limit and zero ballance now. Asked if i can extend the 0% rate Answer no.....closed down card and opened a new virgin for 23 months 0% on the new card. No problems

Use the card often and don't always pay back straight away so useful.... But what a stupid process to have to go through including, no doubt, a fresh credit check.

  • Fair enough. There may be technical issues with altering the way a product works in Virgin's systems that mean staff cannot change rates in the way you would have hoped.

There may also be risk management reasons too. They may have been hoping you'd keep the old card and start paying interest. There was always the chance that you wouldn't qualify for a new 0% card offer.

It is not normal for a credit card company to extend the initial 0% purchases offer.
I have also found that although existing customer balance and money transfer offers are normal. existing customer purchase offers are few and far between.
What has happened here is quite normal and to be expected.
Virgin do allow a second card. Fortunately you were eligible for another card with them.
