PCN from G24 Scotland: Will complaining to store reveal to G24 who was driving?

Hi there,

We've received a Contractual PCN issued by G24 for exceeding the parking time limit in a retail superstore carpark in Scotland
We've read the Newbies FAQ and don't intend to contact G24 at all.

We'd like to complain to the retailer, though, because they will have records of two separate sales to us covering the period we were parked for - the second sale just before we left the car park. However, if we complain to the retailer is there any way that they will pass any information to G24,that would suggest who was driving?

Thanks for your time.

There is always the risk that the retailer will pass on any information given to them.

You need to make sure you do not tell them who the driver was.

Perhaps you should be saying things like "we visited your store...", "we bought these expensive widgets...".

Now, study that sentence I have quoted from you above.
Study it closely and see how I have altered it.
I strongly suggest you edit your post similarly.

The parking companies trawl this forum just waiting for people to trip themselves up and can try and use your posts against you.
  • Thanks, Keith. Edits made!

Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

How does a name on a credit card tell anyone who was driving?

You have effectively told the whole world who was driving. Wow!!

Look again at how I changed that sentence. Further edit required.

(I will edit this post once I have seen that you have read it.)

The Keeper, who was an occupant of the car and made a purchase, should complain to the store manager.

The Keeper should also complain to their MP about this unregulated scam.

Because it is important to complain the landowners, and to the victim's MP.

I think people need to complain to retailers, partly to alert them to the scam they allow to upset their customers.

And also, in Scotland there are still rumours of keeper liability creeping in at some point, and we all know that (having got that in E&W in 2012) PPCs then scraped the barrel, suing over their non-POFA back catalogue once they got that green light.
