If i was selling share, to receive the dividend payment for that period i would need to sell after the Ex Dividend date. Is this correct?

Yes, on or after that date. Ex Dividend literally means you are selling it without the rights to the dividend and you will keep the dividend for yourself.
You might of course prefer to sell it before the ex dividend date so that you get more money for it (because you are selling it with rights to the dividend) and then you don't need to worry about paying tax on the dividend income. It just gives you a bigger capital gain instead.0
