supermarket fine £100 for 26mins over

Hi - appreciate any advice on appealing this - I parked at a Supermarket (to shop there and then visit town centre,) where signs clearly indicated 2 hrs max stay - I was with my baby boy, who was asleep at the time so had to take him out in seat and put into trolley etc - I can provide evidence of purchases at the supermarket. I have just received a demand of £100 from the lovely people at Parking Eye for a total of 2 hrs 26mins (26 mins over max) - do I have a chance of appealing this on grounds of min 10 min grace periods entering and leaving, taking into account extra time for small child -?

    What supermarket was it?
Secondary note, it's not a fine

Booths at Ilkley - yes Thanks for pointing out I know technically it’s not a fine
  • I suspect that edwin booth would be most annoyed that his clientele were being pursued by "cowboys"

I suspect you should ask nicely instore , (the manager) make sure you have receipts , and accompanied by a crying child

failing that complain to head office

as above , you should be getting it cancelled by the landowner or retailer , not appealing it , save the appeal until just before the 28 day window runs out

Do not hand over the actual PCN of course as you may have to appeal as well.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Complain to your local MP. I am sure that you will not be the first, MPs are being flooded with complaints about these scammers.

So much so that on 15th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these private parking companies. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, an independent appeals service will be set up, and access to the DVLA's date base more rigorously policed, and persistent offenders denied access. Hopefully life will become impossible for the worst of these scammers.

Until this is done you should still complain to your MP, citing the new legislation.

Just as the clampers were finally closed down, so hopefully will many of these Private Parking Companies.
You never know how far you can go until you go too far.
  • Hi, I am in the same boat having received a 100 pound PCN also for a 26 min overstay. I tried raising this with a manager in the store who told me they are powerless to cancel the fine until it has gone back to PE for appeal. Not impressed.
I shall be appealing on the grounds that the signage is inadequate and no reasonable effort was made to inform existing customers of the changes.

OK, then revert to that Manager to cancel it BEFORE trying POPLA! Never after.
