£200 PPI reclaim offer from Santander - do I accept?

We made a PPI claim with Santander who represent PPI claims for Dorthy Perkins/Burton store cards. My wife had one of these cards around 20 years ago... which she probably had for around 5-8 years.
We have no paperwork. We sent the claim off and Santander acknowledged she was sold PPI with the store card.
They did this pretty quickly, almost like an auto-responder standard letter.
The letter gave us an offer of £200 as they said they had few records, but based on the duration she had the store card and the amount of PPI paid, their obligation was to reimburse those premiums (our loss) only. They calculated this to be £200. We have no way of verifying this figure.
Is this normal/to be expected?... do we just accept this, or try an persue this further with the ombusdman. Given we have no paperwork, what is the likely outcome of that?
Any advice, appreciated.

Unless you have evidence the figure is wrong, you accept it (unless you don't want it).0

If you send it to the FOS they'll ask if you have any proof you paid more, which you don't, and will then tell you to accept the offer
Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Look on the bright side, most store cards were rarely used and so never built up a large balance, so you may well be receiving far more than you ever paid.
Accept the offer (you really have no choice) and enjoy your redress...0
