Please can I pick your collective brains, I need a very light, very warm duvet for a little old lady who does not have the strength to move the down and feather one she has. I think it's 12tog, she uses it all year round! Is there some alternative filling you can suggest? TIA
Deal with things as they are, not as they should be.

Get a polyester filled thing from a supermarket? They can be wonderfully light and the warmth can be boosted if needed by an electric under blanket. (Which can still be used in cases of incontinence I am somewhat startled to find out. How it is cleaned remains a bit of a stumper.)0

They tend to be pretty bulky, I need to find something more, um, refined I suppose.Deal with things as they are, not as they should be.0

The only options available that i know of are microfibre that are filled with polyester/cotton or goose feather and duck feather. Microfibre are the lightest but it will depend on the tog used.0

Try a fleecy under blanket . I have one which I use in very cold weather.
Apparently it reflects your body heat back to you.Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)0 -
Thanks Tealady - do you mean as an underblanket, or on top?Deal with things as they are, not as they should be.0

Wool duvets are light and aren't bulky, though good ones are expensive.
We love ours as it gives a more even temperature than feathers and is more breathable than synthetic duvets. It's the most comfortable duvet we've ever had.
Silk is another option, depending on funds available.2022. 2% MF challenge. £730/30000 -
Thanks Sky, that's the sort of personal experience I was hoping for. I didn't know there were silk duvets, I'll have a look at those and the wool ones. It's a shame you can't try it out, I guess they're expensive, to find after a night or two they don't suit.Deal with things as they are, not as they should be.0
