I've flown several times to Australia with Royal Brunei - can't speak highly enough of the plane (Dreamliner) and the attention and care by the attendants. Amongst the cheapest too.

.....er...how do you feel about Brunei’s proposals re their LGBT community? https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/middle-east/brunei-gay-sex-stoning-punishment-un-amnesty-international-human-rights-a8867441.html

Royal Brunei is owned by the Brunei government.

Avoid Dreamliners in a narrow seat, narrow aisle 3-3-3 seating Economy configuration.

Avoid B777s for the longest sectors. A350 and A380 are much better.

Out of interest which site did you use to check flight costs??

I used Google Flights - not just googling, it's an actual tool/webpage. Very user friendly, no annoying pop ups either

Looks like I was too slow... the prices for the Cathay Pacific have gone up from £720 to £1040!

    Malaysia air it is then!

Google Flights is the simplified (or "for dummies") version of the excellent ItaSoftware, which is a far more comprehensive flight search tool. I suggest you see what you can find on the full version.

I was only looking yesterday so it may have already started and there were only a few seats available at that price - they still have the £720 fare available for other dates, just not the dates I wanted.

Thank you - can't find anything cheaper but it's coming back with lots of different flight combos, including departing from LGW and returning to LHR and vice versa so might be able to find something with Cathay that suits as happy to depart/return to a different airport.

Edit: looks like the ITA software/google isn't 100% up to date as even flights showing as £720 on the ITA site are 1k plus on the Cathay website whereas when I was looking yesterday Google flights was showing as £720 and it was the same on the Cathay website. Snooze you lose!

Virtually all of them were released without charge within a few hours. I understand that the arresting police were polite, considerate and good-humoured -- not the kind of thing that happened in the old USSR!

I support these protests but understand that arrests were correct under the circumstances.

    Do check skyscanner too

Years ago went travelling after camp with an Aussie friend and she only flew Cathay Pacific. I looked into it when I went to oz but they are normally a bit more expensive than the others, deposit flew ba instead

I always use Matrix but my wife uses Skyscanner and gets better results.

I notice Matrix has a note saying:

    Try Google Flights
