Being charged £30 to remove a motorcycle from my policy

So I got a policy with 2 motorcycles insured on it, and I sold one of my bikes. Broker wants to charge me £30 to remove the bike from my policy.
Obviously not amused,
What are the risks of leaving it until my renewal date and sorting it out then?
What is my legal obligation?
What is the point of the motor insurance database if brokers charge fees like this? As clearly if the new owner doesn't take out cover, it will still show as covered, because I didn't cancel it, because they wanted me to pay for something that shouldn't cost.

You did note that there were amendment charges when you took out the policy......or you didn't read them?0

Pretty much aware most companies charge for changes, but surprised that includes removals.
Really want for know what could happen if I do nothing and leave it be? I'm getti quite forgetful in my old age....0 -

Seems reasonable enough.Obviously not amused,
Now sure why you say obviously. Admin charges have been stripped out of many premiums for some time now. Admin charges are pretty routine and £30 is right in the ballpark you would expect. What are the risks of leaving it until my renewal date and sorting it out then?
If the new owner has a claimable event, your insurance could be liable and your record would suffer the claim history. What is the point of the motor insurance database if brokers charge fees like this?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Why not just pay the £30.0
-
You breach your policy conditions if you leave it on cover!
Your insurer could be liable were it used uninsured - meaning they could train their sights on you to reimburse them
Why not pay up what you agreed to when taking out the policy (though clearly never bothered reading before you agreed to it)!0 -
The whole years premium for both bikes was £109. £30 to remove one with just over 6 weeks left on the policy is not really making much sense.0
-
It makes sense, because it''s not charged as a percentage of the premium.
It's a fixed cost. The admin doesn't change based on the remaining term.0 -
If you grudge paying £30 then you should have checked beforehand what it would cost and waited till your renewal to sell the bike.0
