I didn't phrase that very well. Someone suggested indemnity insurance and I thought many buyers would rather have proper certification, given the choice.Rusty_Shackleton wrote: »Any buyer worrying about electrical work done years previously being a serious risk is going to find an endless list of things wrong with every house they look at, and won't be a serious buyer anyway!
As Essex Exile hints, many of us wouldn't be that concerned either way, but some FTBs might be, judging by what they often write on here.0 -
Indemnity insurance isn't an option because the OP has contacted the council now.
£290 isn't that bad, IMO. Most of that is just the fee for Building Control Approval itself.
You made a mistake OP in not researching the building regs aspect when you carried out the work. This is the result. No point getting angry with the council who, quite rightly, want their own person to inspect something that they're being expected to sign off as compliant.
I don't see the issue. The lesson is to get it right next time.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Why won't the original sparkie sign it off ?I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -
Presumably because he’s doing jobs for cash he’s not declaring for tax, so doesn’t want to supply certification for work that hasn’t been invoiced. No free lunch, and no free laptop
