Lower your reserve!!!!

AAAAGGHRRRRRRRRR! Help! This is the 3rd time I've bid on the same item and not met the reserve, the thing is I've been the only person to bid on it, so it's never gone above the initial bid of £10, although I'd be prepared to pay £80. Will the seller know this? I've emiled the guy, but he's never replied. don't know wha  t to do, it's quite a rare item that I can't get hold of locally (I'd need to pick it up)

I would wait till 30 seconds to go and wham in the maimun amount that I am prepared to pay!!! well you dont need to be quite so late ...but I would still enter the maximun you are prepared to bid. If the reserve is still not met tnen its not for you!

The minimun of a reserve is £50.
  • But surely if you are the only bidder and the starting price is lower than the reserve price then you've got no chance of winning the item?

if you bid the reserve price your bid will go to that price

ie if you bid £100 and the reserve is £70 your bid will be £70 no matter if the bids before that had only reached say £20 it will go up to the reserve not to £21 which it would normally do.

Like the others have said if you have already tried putting in a proxy bid of £80 and not met the reserve then basically the buyer wants more than you are prepared to offer.

You could always ask the seller a question and ask him what his proxy is, then at least you would know whether your £80 was anywhere near what he wants for it.

Well if this is the case I'm not sure I would want to deal with a seller that is non responsive. In fact, this would sound off warning bells for me. If they can't be bothered to answer potential buyer's emails then what's he gonna be like aftersale?
