Default not on Credit File

Hi All. I defaulted on a Halifax mortgage in 2011. I came to a settlement around July last year via Shoosmiths.
Part of the settlement was for the account to be marked as 'partially satisfied/settled'. I never checked my credit file to see if this had been done.
I've finally got round to getting my Experian and Equifax credit reports and there is no mention of the account on either, I'm guessing because the original default was over 6 years ago.
I'm looking at trying to get a mortgage sometime in the near future and my question is, is it a good thing that the account is not showing on my credit report? I understand that for mortgage applications, banks search a bit deeper than the statutory credit report and I'm concerned that Shoosmiths/Halifax may not have updated the account as satisfied. Is there any way to check this?
Thanks

If it's more than 6 years ago then it will be off your files.
If you apply for a mortgage within the same group (BoS, LBG) then they may check their own internal records and see you defaulted on a previous mortgage despite it not appearing on your files any more0
