My tariff is coop fixed sept 2019 and my charge is 0.1442 per KWH

    Is this your tariff?

Looks like 13.93Kwh plus 20.14p standing charge all plus vat 5% ?

I am assuming now that you have never gave them any actual readings?

But your initial one should have been applied. Have you asked them why this was not done?

Going back to July 2018 - have you a final account from BG ? Send this on to Co-op and ask them why they have not applied them to your opening reads. The system is that it is the gaining supplier (ie Co-op) who drives the change - they give them to BG (via a validation process)

  • So I have finally got got the bottom of it. Rang British Gas this morning to get my final meter reading when I switched to coop of which was 13864. Coop had an estimated reading of 7761.2. Makes no sense whatsoever. My meter reading before the smart meter had gone in was 15194. Have worked out that my usage in those months comes to £240.11. I have since paid them over £600 and they’re still asking for another £370! Am I going to have a battle on my hands getting this back. Have since opened a dispute with coop and it could take up to 8 long weeks. Still that smart meter monitor doesn’t seem accurate

Well done! :T You should have no problems getting your money back!

Yes the display is a gimmick, they usually end up in a drawer after the novelty has worn off.

Your on a smart meter now. but even so it is a good idea to check the readings against the bills they will send you in future.

Please please put a bit more effort into checking your account and making sure that your bills do accurately reflect your meter readings even though you now have a smart meter.

Just paying a direct debit and hoping that it will sort itself out will inevitably end in tears.

It's your energy and your money so take charge. Check your on-line account and download your bills at least once a month and make sure that they are using actual readings, if not get them corrected immediately, do not accept estimates.
