stupidly fell for the hard sell and have instructed Allay claims to chase up any PPI claim I might have, can anyone say whether this firm "Allay Claims" is genuine or a scammer, or a genuine scammer ( 38%) recently found out they charge 38% on winning claims, is this enough to yell scammer ?.

Claims Management Companies are now allowed to charge a maximum of 20% of the gross redress amount (plus VAT).
Any more than that and you can complain to FOS. How did you "find out" they are charging 38%? Surely their charges were clear when you agreed to employ them?
I'm not sure you'll be able to extricate yourself from the contract you signed, but they can't charge you more than 20%.0 -
Hi No they were not given up front, stupidly I reacted to a no win no fee advert on the internet, there was a form to fill in just stating which banks I had an account with, I ticked the boxes, ( 3 ), after checking (Too late) on google, I put that company name in and terms and conditions, it was thee I found out. 36% inclusive of VAT
Allay claims Terms and conditions.
I phoned them to inform them that mistakenly ticked Barclays bank s one of the loaners, to inform them that they had settled a claim 4 years ago, they told me that the other banks had been sent initial enquiry and was too late to stop. they have said tht if they get a reply from the bank I will have 14 days cooling off period, but the e-mail address they give for e-mailing does not work , they also said that if I wanted to cancel at an early stage I could e-mail an address they gave me, this also does not work, so my fear is if I email for the 14 days cooling off that will not arrive and after the 14 days there is a charge for work done to date, thank you for the reply.
SORRY 36% INC VAT, their T&Cs, but your comments noted thanks.

As stated earlier, CMCs cannot charge more than 20% of the gross redress amount (plus VAT). The contract you signed will detail this, along with any fees for "work already done" if you now attempt to cancel.
While not a "scam", CMCs effectively do nothing more than put a stamp on the envelope containing your complaint. They are therefore a waste of money.
There should be no reason why you cannot cancel your contract by any reasonable means of communication. They cannot specify that you can only cancel via a particular E-Mail address, especially if that address is undeliverable. Contact them and inform them of your cancellation concerns. If the problems continue, you can complain to the Financial Ombudsman.0 -
Thank you for your reply M I, appreciated.0
