Ryanair damaged car seat

My partner recently went abroad to a European country and took two brand new child car seats. She covered them with bubble wrap. After the outward flight she realised one of the seats had been damaged, which was a tear of approximately 1 inch. I reckon after a short time this will just get bigger and bigger. She sent Ryanair a claim/complaint about this, however they have stated, due to the small damage they will not pay for any damage caused.
Any ideas were I stand with this and whether I am entitled to anything from anywhere?

You can claim, but if it's a small tear in the fabric of one of the seats you'll only be able to claim the cost of repair. You need to set out how much you want and justify it. You can escalate to the CAA if needs be. I wouldn't be surprised if a tailor could stitch up a tear for a tenner, so you have to consider whether it's worth it.
Personally, if the small tear doesn't affect the structural integrity or safe function of the seat, I'd let it go or perhaps take a needle and thread to it. It does sound like cosmetic damage.0
