Ah you rumbled me. Was it the "atwork" bit that gave it away?
Or maybe it's just that I rob people at work.
Anyway mine was posted on a Sunday so I'm still Persil white.
PS You've spent too long getting ready.0 -

I don't work 9-5 Monday to Friday....put it this way, Thursday and Friday is my version of a weekend.
The only time I am working during what is seen as normal working hours is on a Tuesday and Wednesday morning, very short hours as it is basically just unlocking the building and making sure the safes tallies with the logs, the rest are outside of normal working hours.
Plus of course, I have free access to the internet whilst at work (as already posted) if there are no customers present. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
An outcome would be interesting here OP if you're willing?0

My last paid job I had a boss who paid me late and short more or less every month.
Twice a week I used to work until 7pm (he finshed at 5), I used to spend 2 hours playing football manager - but that was only because he paid me late and short.
Has he definitely spent 50% of his time playing it or has he just had it open? I have football manager open all day every day but I rarely play it during the day. It is a game you can leave open as nothing happens unless you are clicking next - it is not like you are going to get shot by someone.
If you can tell he has actually been playing it, then I would go straight to dismissal - but I suppose it depends on what is in the contract. 50% of his week is more than someone just being a bit cheeky and making the most of the boss being away.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Managing a (virtual) football team come with many transferable skills! Make use of them?
Bear in mind these days peeps are quite good at multitasking. I could easy achieve the exact same work today with CM in the background. It's isn't a real-time game, as people say, so uses exactly the same time as checking texts on your phone every 5 minutes (although it will be loaded on the PC in the background, so will look worse).0 -

Jobs are in with production for the 10 days while I am away and everyone knows what is expected. This employee is more design orientated hence greater scope to mess about if he chooses to.
I should have said he is working without me at the office while I am away so expected to work in the same way just without me around.
If it's a design / production studio I take it this guy has some sort of college or degree-level qualification? If so, he should be getting paid a lot more than the living wage with or without the extra responsibility you lumped on him while you went on holiday.
You've alluded to both spying on your staff and paying qualified professionals buttons, both signs of an exploitative boss.0 -

You should fire him for playing Championship Manager and not Football Manager. This isn't the 90's anymore, you know...
2 things - I think you've lost any trust for the employee, so I can't see any other way but to sacking for gross misconduct. But the bit in bold, in my opinion, just doesn't happen. Certainly to a lesser extent than playing games for half the day, but if you think your employees are the same when you're there and when you're not, you're probably wrong.0
