Last time I use loan eligibility checker

What this is telling you is that your credit status is not as good as you think it is. The lender decides if you can afford it, not you, and you are clearly being perceived as higher than average risk.
It's nothing to do with 'charging you more because they know you can afford it'.
I am a member of Experian. I have an 'Excellent' credit score. It's not only me that thinks that. Experian think that as well.0 -

Experian are not lenders. Also their scores are just marketing gimmicks i.e. pointless.
Have you checked what is on your history across all 3 CRAs?The_Jester wrote: »No big deal I told them I'll just leave their bank if that's their game. So I joined First Direct just now. If everyone done this perhaps the banks would stop their silly games.
You do realise that HSBC own First Direct? :rotfl:I'm a Board Guide on the Credit Cards, Loans, Credit Files & Ratings boards. I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly, and I can move and merge threads there. Any views are mine and not the official line of moneysavingexpert.com0 -

But neither your opinion nor theirs matter.
It's up to the lender to evaluate your risk.0 -

Don't they use credit agencies?0 -

Lenders can choose which of the 3 CRAs they use to assess your application. Some use 1, some use 2, some use all 3. Thing is, you won't know who the lender uses hence why you need to see what each CRA holds about you on file.The_Jester wrote: »My point is the loan eligibility tool on here is crap.
Given that anytime we've seen people come on here and complain about not getting headline rate APRs for loans, it usually comes out in later posts that they either have substantial debt/lots of hard searches/financially associated to someone else/address issues etc. you name it.I'm a Board Guide on the Credit Cards, Loans, Credit Files & Ratings boards. Yes. But for the data.
No one is interested in their opinions.0 -

So you must think I'm lying then and up to my neck in debt? Rather than accept the eligibility checker is crap.0 -

Nope, didn't say that. Rather you seem to think that Experian have you marked down as excellent, gives the impression that you don't understand the system.
You still didn't answer whether or not you checked the other 2 CRAs to see what info they held on you.
Was Admiral the only lender who came out as 95% for you regarding a loan or were there others?I'm a Board Guide on the Credit Cards, Loans, Credit Files & Ratings boards.
